How to Get to Belgium

How to get to Belgium by Air

Brussels and Antwerp are the two international airports in Belgium. Zaventem airport, 12 miles north of Brussels, is served by many world carriers including the national airlines, as is Duerne airport, which is 3 miles southeast of Antwerp.

How to get to Belgium by Rail

The national railway, Belgium Railways, has several and regular international routes. The central stops are at Brussels, with three main train stations, which connect it to the rest of the country. As many as 10 Eurostar trains come in to Brussel’s Gare du Midi station from London every day. Classes range from business to economy, so make your choices according to your budget.

If you’re willing to spend a little extra, traveling on the high-speed TGV rail networks – France’s Trains a grand vitesse (literally meaning “trains of great speed”) - is highly recommended and is a very popular option among business travelers who are in a hurry to get to meetings from one corner of the continent to another. These trains depart from Paris or Geneva or Lyons.

How to get to Belgium by Road

By Bus

Like the train option, getting here by bus would be a great idea if you were already in Europe. Bus networks such as the Eurolines connect Brussels as well as Antwerp to London, Amsterdam, Paris and other major stations.

By Car

You could drive in from any one of the neighbouring countries of France, Germany or the Netherlands. If you are coming in from England you could use Le Shuttle under the English Channel or you could also come in through Calais by ferry. If using either of the above options, you can save some time by taking the E-40, which connects with the French highway and makes the trip shorter for you. Most driving licenses are acceptable, (though its always advisable to have an International Driving License) and the motorways good, so driving into Belgium is not a problem.
