History
The Macau Giant Pavilion is set right next to the Seac Pai Van Park in Coloane and blends in with the topography of the surrounding environs.
The pavilion has two indoor quarters, one outdoor yard a huge indoor exhibit area where the giant pandas are. To accommodate more people there are two viewing paths that go along the front edge of the indoor activity area. There is a logistic centre with panda dens, a feed preparation room, a control centre and veterinarian clinic in case the animals are sick.
The Macau Giant Panda Pavilion is designed to imitate and blend in with nature — the yard is enveloped with a rock wall with some built-in panda habitat features. The indoor exhibit area lies under a transparent roof that allows natural light to stream in, hence cutting down the need for too much electric lighting. The roof of the entire pavilion is created in the interesting shape of a seashell. The giant pandas are allowed to roam around and enjoy themselves in an outdoor environment whenever weather condition permits. Visitors are able to watch giant pandas’ activities through a toughened glass.
The Macau Giant Panda Gift Shop lies just outside the park, and here one can buy mementos and souvenirs to take back home – choose from panda soft toys, stationery, household items, bags, and clothes.
