Cologne Travel Guide

Cologne or Koln as the Germans call it, is a city of cathedrals, churches and museums. The oldest city of Germany said to be founded by the Romans, Cologne has a lot going for it. With art, culture, a happening nightlife, stupendous attractions, art galleries and the not to be missed the famous Kölsch (beer), the lifestyle of Cologne is truly vivacious!

Today, Cologne serves as the fourth largest city in Germany, made up of nine urban districts and 85 quarters with the twin spires of the Cologne Cathedral dominating the skyline. Stroll along the streets of the city and you will stumble upon buildings of architectural beauty, serene churches with stained glass window, interesting kitsch museums showcasing avant garde art to chocolates!

Come to Cologne - you will not be disappointed!

Did you know? The word ‘cologne’ that denotes scented toilet water has its origins in Germany and not France – it gets its name from the German city of Köln, where ‘cologne’ has been made since the early 18th century.

While in Cologne you must visit the Roman-German Museum that houses exclusive Roman antiquities from the first through fourth centuries. There is also a 230 foot long mosaic showing Dionysus, the Roman god of wine.
