Munich Travel Guide

München, or Munich as the English-speaking world knows it, is the capital of Bavaria and one of the largest cities in Germany. It is also one of Germany’s most fascinating cities - with its abundant theatres, museums, cafés and restaurants. Munich’s a cosmopolitan city, where you can spend the evening guzzling beer at a noisy beer hall or attend a concert of classical music. And with its extensive parks and gardens, its old buildings and fountains, Munich is also a city that appeals to the aesthetic sense. There’s a lot to see and do here, and in the areas around - Munich is the perfect base for trips to the nearby Black Forest, the beautiful and majestic Bavarian mountains, and the countryside around.

Whichever way you look at it, and whatever you’re interested in – the beer or the art, Munich promises to charm.

Calling all Beer Lovers. Beer in Munich, in fact in all of Bavaria, is not considered alcohol, but staple diet. Cheers to that!

The Hofbrauhaus, the traditional Bavarian brewery, is five centuries old and was opened in 1589. Even today there is an Oompah Band that plays traditional Bavarian songs and wears lederhosen, a traditional Bavarian dress.

The popular mobile company Siemens has its headquarters here which were established in 1847. In 1848 the company built the first long distance telegraph line in Europe, which went from Berlin to Frankfurt am Main.
