Sightseeing in Puttaparthi

The only sightseeing option in Puttaparthi is the abode of Sri Sathya Sai Baba is Prasanthi Nilayam, and this is where millions of devotees thronged to catch a glimpse of their religious leader when he was alive. People came from far and near to receive blessings from this modern day saint. The Ashram complex also has museum and library. The Ashram Foundation runs a brilliantly equipped hospital that provides free treatment and medical care.

The Gopalaswami Temple located in Puttaparthi is another place of interest – this temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Although the temple is small, it is of great significance to village people of Puttaparthi as the history of the village is closely woven with its people.

Other important temples in Puttaparthi are the Hanuman temple and the Satyabhama temple.

Another interesting feature here is the Banyan Tree - Vata Vruksha which is a place for devotees to meditate and provides a beautiful view of the complex. It is located just behind the main ashram and has a very peaceful ambience.
