Rajgir Travel Guide

Rajgir is located in the Indian state of Bihar about 15 km from Nalanda and 108 km southeast of the capital Patna. Covered with lush green forests, Rajgir is growing up as a health and winter resort. Rajgir is known for its rock-cut caves, forts, Buddhist ruins, shell inscriptions, Hindu and Jain temples and Muslim tombs. This is the place where Lord Mahavir spent 14 years of his life while Lord Buddha delivered most of his famous sermons. Jivaka, the legendary physician of Magadha kingdom, also resided here and once served Buddha for illness. Earlier known as 'Rajagiri', Rajgir today, is a small town with remnants of an ancient kingdom and beautiful temples and one of the most important pilgrimage for the Buddhist. So travel to Rajgir and marvel at the historical sights that are an architectural delight.
