Languages of Delhi

The language spoken in Delhi is primarily Hindi, with Punjabi and Haryanavi following as close seconds, given the proximity of these states as well as the population from there that have migrated to the capital city of Delhi and call it their home now. English is widely understood and spoken. It is also the language in which business is conducted and is the medium of instruction in many educational institutions in Delhi. The people of Delhi are cosmopolitan in nature and hence you will hear a smattering of languages being spoken here.
