Economy of Goa

Goa's economy is dominated by two major sectors, mining and tourism. Mining contributes the bulk of Goa's overseas exports even though the industry is controlled by family based companies like Dempo and Salgaocar. The bulk of Goa's minerals exports, like iron ore, go to Japan for use in that country’s iron and steel industry. Fisheries, food canning, shipping, cashews, coconuts and liquor also form an important part of its economy.
