Getting Around in Goa

A good city bus service takes you almost anywhere you want to go.

Many people prefer to rent their own transport and cars, MUVs and mini buses are all available. The real fun thing to do is take a motorbike taxi - the only one of a kind in India. These taxis are motorbikes, which carry a pillion rider for very acceptable costs. Travelling is much easier, if one rents a two-wheeler! The more popular choice is the Enfield (huge 350/500cc, mean machine!). They are rented out on a daily or monthly basis depending on needs. For the general traveller it is recommended that he rent the Kinetic (automatic gear transmission scooter), as it is comfortable for long distances and churns out a fairly economical mileage.

Apart from the authorized rentals, two-wheelers can be found easily by shop and stall owners who rent them out at very reasonable rates, and all they need to know is where you are staying in Goa! It is advisable to carry your licence at all times, and it is also fair to be warned that bikes rented away from the authorized rentals, will have no papers and insurance with them!
