Religion in Gujarat

Hinduism is the major religion in Gujarat. Being one of the developed and industrialised states of India, Gujarat provides employment opportunities to many. As a result people from different regions come and settle here.

Although, more than 85 percent people follow Hinduism, there are considerable number of people who follow Islam, Sikhism and Jainism. Almost 10 percent of the people follow Islam.

Hindus mostly worship Lord Krishna, in the form of Shrinathji. Gujarat is also the birthplace of the Swaminarayan sect.

During the ancient times, major trade practices were carried out in Gujarat. So, you will find good number of Parsi Zoroastrians in Gujarat.
