Sightseeing in Chail

Sightseeing in Chail includes visiting Chail’s best known places to see are the world’s highest cricket pitch and polo ground at 2,444 m, temple Chail Sanctuary among other attractions of this hill station.

Visit the Sidh Baba ka Mandir – this is the site where Maharaja Bhupinder Singh originally began building his palace. The story goes that a ‘sidh’ or saintly person appeared before the Maharaja in a dream and stated that this is the place where he meditated, so the Maharaja stopped building his palace and changed it into the temple it is today.

The Chail Sanctuary is filled with tall cedar trees that seem as if they are touching the sky. Kids will enjoy the tiny wildlife sanctuary with ghoral, sambhar, cheer pheasants, and red jungle fowl for company.

No visit to Chail is complete without a visit to Chail Palace which was once the residence of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh. This palace is today a hotel that is popular with holidaymakers as well as honeymooners because of its heritage as well as the spectacular surroundings. Accommodation is available in the form of quaint cottages and rooms equipped with modern facilities, but still retaining its old world charm.
