Lighthouse Beach

History

The southernmost beach of the country, the Lighthouse Beach is the one most popular tourist destinations in India. The beach got its name due to the old Vizhinjam Lighthouse situated on a stony peninsula here. Its flashing beams at night-time make the beach beautiful with an bizarre charm. Even though tourists are not allowed inside the lighthouse, the memorials of Ayyanappilla Asan and Ayyippilla Asan around the lighthouse are worth a visit.

The beach is basically a long sandy narrow piece, safe protected by life guards along the beach. The lighthouse is illuminated and a great place to take pleasure in a quiet evening. Appetizing & fresh sea food offered along the coast is just the thing to round up a relaxed nightfall. Even going to the beach is not at all a hassle as simple transportation is easily available.

The fresh breeze of the Arabian Sea and the mesmerizing waves lashing on the sandy beaches are truly a delight for one’s eyes and soul.
