Bay Island Driftwood Museum

History

Bay Island Driftwood Museum was constructed by Ms Raji Punnoose who used to be the proprietor and custodian of the museum. The museum displays artistically creative and superior driftwood sculptures which remind us of rare and innovative form of art. It is said that Ms Raji Punnose was a dynamic school teacher who during her early age use to collect the driftwood deposited by the sea on the sea-shore.

The pieces of driftwood comprised of twisted tree trunks, stumps, and roots and these with marginal efforts were then converted into sculptures. The gathered pieces were further cleaned by removing their dead parts and scraping them into the desired shape. With utmost dedication these pieces were scraped, trimmed and polished into variety of shapes.

Bay Island Driftwood Museum holds its place in Limca Book of World Records as the only museum of its kind. So explore the art and creativity at its best while taking a trip to the Bay Island Driftwood Museum.
