Festivals and Events in Jeolikot

The main festivals in Jeolikot are Vinayak Chaturthi, Holi, Diwali and Ram Navami that are celebrated with great pomp and show.

The festival of Holi is celebrated in February-March with great enthusiasm and the festivities include greeting each other with colours and Happy Holi, savouring traditional sweets including gujiya and generally having a good time with friends and family.

Commemorating the birth of Lord Ram is the festival of Ram Navami that is celebrated in April. Festivities include adorning temples with lights and colourful papers, singing bhajans praising Lord Ram.

Vinayak Chaturthi, also called Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated in September to celebrate the birthday of Lord Ganesha. This is an eleven-day festival where Lord Ganesha is brought home and treated as a divine guest.

In November, Diwali, the festival of lights is held with pomp and gaiety. During Diwali, people worship Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth. This is a special festival, during which people decorate their house and celebrate the triumph of good over evil. Crackers are burst to drive away evil spirits.
