At an elevation of 1,938mts, Nainital is one of the interesting places that you can visit on a day trip from Jeolikot. Situated at a distance of 17kms from Jeolikot, Nainital is a hill-station town that has been named after its popular Naini Lake, which is in the shape of an eye and is located amongst the mountains forested with thick alpine trees. The lake is a popular point picnic spot and the beauty of the lake is enhanced during the night when the lights of various accommodations are reflected on the lake.

Another interesting place near Jeolikot is Bhimtal, which is situated at an altitude of 1,375mts and is popular for Bhimtal Lake. The lake is a major attraction of Bhimtal and has a small island in the centre. According to legend, Bhimtal got its name after Bheema – the third Pandava from the Hindu epic Mahabharata — when he visited Bhimtal during his exile.
