How to Get to Genting Highlands by Air

The closest you can get to Genting Highlands by air is through the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang. Served by Air Asia, Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, Air India and Royal Brunei, the bustling airport at the Malaysian capital plays host to a range of transit services bound for KL Sentral where you can a book a place in a bus or car all the way to Genting Highlands.

The leader of KLIA’s transit network is the nonstop KLIA Ekspres . The high-speed Ekspres rail link departs for KL Sentral in every 15 minutes and arrives at destination in nearly 30 minutes. Another way out of the airport is KLIA Transit , though it costs the same as KLIA Ekspres, there are 3 stops in the journey. Tickets can be purchased for RM 35.

If it’s too mind boggling or time consuming for you to take the rail transit, look for a van in arrival foyer. The prices are fixed and they can be hired without reservations. However, it would be clever to watch out for touts who will try selling outrageously expensive services.

Facilities at the Airport

The Aerotrain makes it quick and convenient for passengers to transfer between the main terminal and satellite building at the international airport. The automatic link serves in every 3 minutes and ferries about 250 passengers at a time.

How to Get to Genting Highlands by Rail

There are no trains to Genting Highlands.

How to Get to Genting Highlands by Bus

Board the glossy red Go Genting Express shuttle from KL Sentral Station, Puduraya Bus Terminal, Hentian Pasarakyat or Gombak for a comfy hour long ride up to the highlands. Most of these buses will drop you at the terminal close to the Genting Skyway . From here you’ll take the fastest cable car in the world for an 11 minute journey to Genting. The frequency of this service ranges between 45 minutes and one hour. Advance reservations are recommended to avoid the rush.

For a hassle free trip to Genting set your eyes on the cab. You can hire a Skyvan at the Low Cost Carrier terminal, which is affordable if not cheap for RM 95 on sharing basis. A taxi can cost a lot more. For a taxi, you can check out the arrivals at airport or book one at KL Sentral. The drive takes up to an hour.

Getting Around Genting Highlands

Exploring Genting is not a mammoth task. So you can ramble through this place on foot and bump into attractions at every step. There’s no sign of streets anywhere so don’t look for cars or bus. Most hotels are linked to casinos and the theme parks via escalators and walkways.
