Sarawak Travel Guide

Located on the vast forested continent of Borneo, Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia, with a large range of expansive rainforests and countless raging rivers. Also known as Bumi Kenyalang or Land of the Hornbills, Sarawak possesses the largest cave chamber in the world, lush green forests, unique flora and fauna, white sandy beaches and remote islands. Most of Sarawak is a forest reserve and because of the extraordinary natural wonders of its national parks including Gunung Mulu, the Niah Caves, and Bako, Sarawak is well known to international visitors. However, for that very same reason, it doesn’t get any better than Sarawak for co-adventures!

Sarawak’s colourful history, reflecting the influence not only of the state’s rich tapestry of cultures, but also the odd western influence of Sarawak’s “White Rajahs”, and the many splendid natural attractions, make it a mesmerizing holiday destination. Kuching, the administrative capital of Sarawak, houses many heritage buildings, reflecting its rich past. Sarawak offers a potpourri of experiences to travelers from all over the world.

Be careful of saltwater crocodiles as they are very common in certain parts of Sarawak. Caution should be taken when entering water, especially brackish areas such as Batang Lupar. The species tend to be aggressive during mating season or when guarding its nesting area.
