Best Time to Visit United States Of America

You can go to America any time of the year -the tremendous spread of the country means a great deal of variety in climate and seasonal events throughout the year! The best time to visit really depends on where in the USA you are going. Generally the peak season for tourist travel runs from May to September, though Spring and Fall are the prettiest months on the east and west coast of the country.

East Coast

If you are travelling to the east coast then, May and June are very pleasant months with the temperatures ranging from 65 -80 degrees Fahrenheit. In Maine and New England the weather is particularly cool and it is very pleasant in New York and Washington DC. Further south in Florida the weather starts getting quite warm in June with temperatures touching a high of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Expect sporadic rainfall too at this time of the year.

The summer months of July and August are very hot with soaring temperatures that hit the high 90s touching 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It is hot and humid in these months especially in Florida and the New York area.

The best time to travel on the east coast is arguably the Fall (September-October) when the foliage turns into a thousand shades of yellow to russet to brown. This is the most beautiful time of the year to be in the Boston area as well as the Adirondacks and Catskills. The temperatures are in the range of 45-65 degrees Fahrenheit and the weather is bracing.

During the winter it gets really cold in the northeast with snowfall and snowstorms being common occurrences. New York and Washington DC though quite beautiful in the winter experience heavy snowfall and are periodically hit by blizzards and snowstorms. The Florida coast has sunny winter days and no real winter to speak of. The temperatures are cool and remain in the 70s.

The Mid West

The summer months get sizzling hot with temperatures hitting the high 90s in Texas and 85 degrees F in Chicago. Again the best time to visit here would be in either spring or in the fall. The winter months are freezing cold in the upper mid west with temperatures in Chicago and Minneapolis plummeting to well below the zero mark. Further south in Kentucky and Texas, the winter temperature are in the mid 50s range in the winter.

West Coast

California has great climate with the months between April and October being pleasantly warm and temperatures in the range of 50 -70 degrees Fahrenheit. Los Angeles, San Francisco and the Lake Tahoe area are beautiful during this time and well worth visiting. The rains start sometime in November but is never heavy, so not a deterrent really. The winter months are cool and temperatures rarely fall below the 40 degrees Fahrenheit mark. Higher on the west coast are Portland and Seattle and these cities are lovely to visit in the summer months as the weather is moderate and mild. It does rain during January and February so one can avoid these months. Alaska is at its pristine best in the months of July and August when the weather is glorious.

Ski enthusiasts will have a great time in Aspen, Colorado in the winter as the ski slopes are powdery and best for skiing at this time. Las Vegas is an year round destination.

Yosemite Park is best visited in May and June but be prepared for the crowds. It is at its prettiest during the month of October when the fall foliage is in full spate and very beautiful.

The climate in USA ranges from the hot and humid along the Florida coast to sizzling temperatures in the California desert to below freezing point in Alaska -there is tremendous diversity in climate across the country. Generally speaking, there are four main seasons - spring, summer, fall and winter, which vary in duration across the country.

In the Northeast, summers are short but can get quite hot and humid except for the lake and mountain areas. Fall is spectacular while winters can get quite cold. In the Middle Atlantic States, spring is cool while summer can get muggy, especially in Washington and Philadelphia. Autumn is pleasant and the foliage is at its colorful best. Winters can be bitterly cold. In the Great Plains region, summers are long, hot and wet, winters are extreme and spring and autumn are short but pleasant.

In the Southeast, winters are mild, especially along the coast but summer can be hot and humid. Spring and fall are colorful times - flower gardens are awash with bright blooms in spring while fall colors are astounding.
