Detroit Travel Guide

Home to the big names in the auto industry, Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet and others, Detroit is a vibrant city with a hoary past. The birthplace of the Motown sound, Detroit has contributed significantly to the music scene in the U.S. However, it is a city, which has suffered immensely due to recession in the 1970s -- the contrast between the rich, and the poor here is tremendous and the city was the site of the bloodiest riot in the country.

Modern day Detroit is putting all this behind and is engaged in reinventing itself as a prime time destination.

Detroit is known is not known as the Motor City for nothing. Other than being home to Ford, Cadillac, GM and Chrysler the city has a lot of firsts - the first to have a paved road, the first to install traffic lights, and the first to build a freeway.
