New York Travel Guide

Brazen, adrenalin-pumping, enthralling, hypnotizing, gut-wrenching, dazzling, angst-ridden --- mere words, cannot capture the dynamism, tempo or magnetism of New York City. A city which proclaims itself as Crossroads of the World and Capital of the World has got be the most happening and exciting place on earth. Ever-changing trends, crazy intermingling of great wealth and tremendous poverty, a frenzied pace of life, a bubbling cultural potpourri, -- you can't escape this is in New York City, one city you will either love or hate, but can never be indifferent to. Thrilling, beautiful and maddening, the Big Apple is a city that gets under your skin, one way or the other!

Nowhere else in the world is the divide between the rich and the poor so obvious – in Manhattan, the high brow professional lives cocooned in his apartment in the Upper East side, while the homeless search for food in trash cans. On the subway, the banker hardly looks up from his newspaper when the subway artiste belts out his favourite song and passes his hat around for collection. Generations of immigrants from all over the world impart tremendous diversity to the city's population.

New York has a large Italian, Irish, Indian, Chinese community and presents a mosaic of cultures. This city is an amazing mélange of people from different parts of the world and is the ultimate melting pot. It is difficult to tell who the real New Yorker is – is he the power suited Whizkid striding purposefully down Wall Street, or the German immigrant selling hot dogs at the street corner; the funky bohemian in SoHo or the Chinese restaurateur in Mott Street; the rap artiste in the Bronx or the Italian baking pizzas in Little Italy?

Come and see if you can spot the real New Yorker!

Did you know that the New York subway performers actually have to go through an audition process? So expect some to hear some quality music while on the subway - with some of the singers even having performed at Carnegie Hall!!!

Get in touch with your wacky and insane side at the ‘No Pants Day’ that is celebrated by the city usually in May and January. Hordes of people, without pants get in to the subway and roam all over the city!
